Le Chabatz d’Entrar

Avenue du 8 May, 87290, Chateauponsac
Tel: 05 87 77 96 16

Straight on at the junction you would normally turn right at to the town centre. Then turn left at the end of this road – opposite the old railway station. Another great place that does a great lunch but is also open in the evenings too.

Café Le Pont de la Pierre

13 Faubourg du Pont de la Pierre, 873000, Bellac
Tel: 05 55 60 20 79

On the banks of the river this is a beautiful setting. Owned by an English couple (I say this so you know you don’t have to speak French if phoning to find out what’s going on!) They often have live music too – and if you see Jack Law is on then he’s well worth seeing. He’s only 23 but has the most amazing voice doing the old ‘brat pack’ covers.

La Marmite

29 avenue de la Gare, 87210, Le Dorat
Tel: 05 55 60 66 94

Superb restaurant! A traditional French restaurant serving the best local and seasonal produce. Fixed price menus start at £19.50 which is extremely good value for the quality of the food they serve. Even their most expensive menu at £38 is very reasonable.

La Fontaine Saint Martial

12 rue de la Fontaine, 87140, Roussac
Tel: 05 55 60 27 42

Only usually open lunchtimes, but they will do evening meals if you call and make a reservation. All homemade food and fantastic value! It’s a great place to head to for lunch if you like a walk as it is about 7kms away.

Creperie du Vincou

19 rue Thiers, 87300, Bellac
Tel: 05 55 68 82 71

Rated #1 restaurant in Bellac on TripAdvisor, go there and you will quickly learn why! As well as serving amazing French crepes, they also have an a la carte menu. They are open everyday of the week but only at lunch. A place you must visit if you are in Bellac in the daytime!

Le Jardin du Palatin

38 Avenue du 8 Mai 1945, 87250, Bessines-sur-Gartempe
Tel: 05 55 60 77 47

The best restaurant in the area (Bessines-sur-Gartempe approx. 20 minute drive from Paradise), it is an Italian eatery that serves amazing freshly made pizzas that are made in full view! It is a wonderful place to dine if the weather is nice, or to take out and eat by the Lac de Sagnat, which is just 5 minutes down the road.

Limoges Restaurants

There are some very good restaurants on the Rue de la Boucherie, a lovely little street lined full of timbered houses.

L’Amphitryon

26 rue de la Boucherie, 87000, Limoges
Tel: 05 55 33 36 39

A Michelin star restaurant in the city with prices to match! However if you want a treat their lunch menu is around £26, which is very good value for the style and quality of food served. In the evenings you should expect to pay at least £50, and as much again if you have 3 courses with wine. Though you are being cooked for by one of the renowned chefs in France, and therefore great for a special celebration! An experience you are sure to remember!

Les Petits Ventres

20 rue de la Boucherie, 87000, Limoges
Tel: 05 55 34 22 90

Les Petits Ventres, (literal translation is ‘Little Innards’ and is what the French use to refer to anything that is not meat) Whilst this place primarily specialises in offal, there are also many more usual dishes on the menu, but all cooked with the same flair, and only using the best quality ingredients. This is another ‘experience’ restaurant if you really want to get a feel for the local delicacies.

Bistrot d’Olivier Ou Chez Olivier

Halles Centrales, 87000, Limoges
Tel: 05 55 33 73 85

For an authentic lunch in Limoges, you can’t do much better than this chaotic little place inside the market. Diners and traders sit at communcal wooden tables and share hearty, no-fuss portions of French food chosen straight from the blackboard. If it is full, Chez François, also inside the market, offers a similarly lively vibe.

Le Bistrot Gourmand

7 Place Winston Churchill, 87000, Limoges
Tel: 05 55 10 29 29

A very busy Brasserie for both lunch and in the evening, make sure to book! Huge portions of fantastic local produce, that is always good!

Le Versailles

20 Place D Aine, 87000, Limoges
Tel: 05 55 34 13 39

Le Versailles is a little more expensive than some others nearby, but it serves consistently good food. This is also another eatery that’s always full of locals, with excellent Limousin steaks and some of the best frites you will ever eat. Good varied menu including great fish choices.

Tan Saigon

6 rue Claude Henri Gorceix, Z.I. Nord, 87280, Limoges
Tel: 05 55 14 41 84

Tan Saigon is a very good value, and excellent quality, Chinese buffet style restaurant. All the food is freshly prepared, and it even has a wok station so you can choose you own raw ingredients and have the chef cook it for you. Ideal restaurant to call into if you are exploring over this way. It has a full buffet of starters, salads and main courses, and you can eat as much as you like. Tan Saigon is definitely the best of its kind in the area. It is however closed on Mondays.

Paradis’d Asie

15 rue Frederic Bastiat, 87280, Limoges
Tel: 05 55 14 41 84

Paradise’d Asie is another oriental buffet style restaurant. It is a similar set up to Tan Saigon with good food. They have drinks included in their menu for £20 – beer, wine, soft drinks and coffee. So if you want to have more than two or three drinks each then this could work out as a cheap option.

Les Tables du Bistrot

7 Rue du Grand Theil, 87280, Limoges
Tel: 05 55 37 59 59

Located in a former barn, Les Tables du Bistrot serves traditional and regional French dishes that have been developed by their chef François Mouly. Their speciality is red meat from the famous Limousin cattle.
