AOC – Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée
These are French wines that are of the highest quality, and hold strict restrictions based on varieties of grapes and winemaking techniques.
VDQS – Vin Délimité de Qualité Superieure
These wines are awaiting the coveted AOC rating, they are often considered to be in the “waiting room” for this title.
Vin de Table
Entry-level French wines. These wines only guarantee that they are produced in France, and carry no other distinctions.
Vin de Pays
Similar in classification to Vin de Table wines, however these wines are more locally distinguished by their particular region of production in France.
